Thetford RV Toilet Parts Diagrams (Current Models)
Because guessing plumbing parts is how horror movies begin…
If you own an RV, there’s a solid chance your porcelain throne was crowned by the undisputed monarch of mobile sanitation: Thetford.
From campground classics to high-rise ceramic royalty, Thetford toilets dominate RV bathrooms across North America. And when one starts leaking, sticking, squeaking, or committing full-on mutiny—you need the right parts diagram, not crossed fingers and a YouTube rabbit hole.
Today, we’re cracking open the most popular Thetford models:
Let’s break down the throne room.
Having trouble finding the part for your Thetford RV toilet? Find your model (see "how to find your model" blog here), and then check the exploded diagrams sorted by model below:
Aqua-Magic Residence

The Thetford Aqua Magic Residence RV Toilet brings home-style height and comfort into your RV. It’s the unofficial champion of “I forgot I was camping.”
Most Common Residence Replacement Parts:
Waste Ball Seal (Blade Seal)
This is the number one replacement part. It is the rubber ring that sits at the bottom of the bowl.
-
The Issue: Over time, the seal dries out or accumulates mineral deposits, causing the bowl to stop holding water.
-
Maintenance Tip: Before replacing it, try cleaning it with a soft brush and applying a seal conditioner.
If it still leaks, it's time for a new one.
Water Valve Assembly
The water valve controls the flow of water into the bowl when you press the pedal.
-
The Issue: These are prone to cracking if the RV isn't winterized properly (residual water freezes and expands) or can leak from the internal diaphragm after a few years.
-
Symptom: You'll see water pooling on the floor behind the toilet or notice the toilet "ghost flushing" (slowly filling on its own).
Vacuum Breaker
Located at the back of the toilet, this part prevents backflow into your fresh water system.
-
The Issue: It can develop a hairline crack or the internal check valve can fail.
-
Symptom: Water leaking from the top-rear of the toilet specifically during or immediately after a flush.
Foot Pedal and Linkage
The Residence model uses a plastic pedal and a drive arm to move the waste ball.
-
The Issue: The plastic teeth or the return spring can snap or wear down, especially if the pedal is "snapped" back into place too often.
-
Symptom: The pedal feels loose, doesn't return to the up position, or the waste ball doesn't open fully.
Closet Flange Seal (Floor Gasket)
This is the thick foam or rubber gasket between the toilet base and the RV floor.
-
The Issue: If the toilet mounting bolts loosen over time, the toilet "rocks," which eventually crushes or shifts the seal.
-
Symptom: Water or odors escaping from the very base of the toilet where it meets the floor.
Aqua-Magic Style II

The Thetford Aqua Magic Style II RV Toilet is one of the most widely installed RV toilets ever manufactured. Simple. Tough. And endlessly repairable.
Here are the most commonly replaced parts for the Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II:
Water Valve Module (Part #42049)
This is the "brain" of the flush. Because the Style II is often used in high-end units, it's frequently subjected to high water pressure, which can wear out the internal seals faster than the bowl itself.
-
The Issue: It is highly susceptible to freeze damage if even a teaspoon of water is left in the valve during winter.
-
Symptom: Water leaking from the back of the toilet or the toilet staying "on" and overfilling the bowl.
Waste Ball Seal (Part #42141)
Unlike the Residence, the Style II seal is specifically designed to mate with the ceramic bowl.
-
The Issue: Mineral buildup on the ceramic rim can "scar" the rubber seal over time.
-
Maintenance Tip: Thetford recommends replacing this seal every 4 to 6 years, but if you live in a hard-water area, it may be closer to 3 years. Keeping it lubricated with silicone grease (not petroleum jelly!) extends its life significantly.
Waste Ball & Drive Arm Kit (Part #42209)
The Style II uses a drive arm to rotate the waste ball.
-
The Issue: If the waste ball seal gets too dry, it creates friction. This puts stress on the plastic drive arm, which can eventually snap or strip the "teeth" that connect to the foot pedal.
-
Symptom: You press the pedal, but the ball doesn't move, or it only opens halfway.
Vacuum Breaker (Part #34122)
This is the anti-siphon valve located at the top rear.
-
The Issue: Small cracks in the plastic housing.
-
Symptom: You'll notice a small puddle forming on the "ledge" behind the seat after a flush.
Foot Pedal Assembly
There are two versions (High and Low profile).
-
The Issue: The Style II pedal is quite long; if stepped on too aggressively or at an angle, the plastic mounting point on the base can crack.
Aqua-Magic Style Plus

The Thetford Aqua Magic Style Plus RV Toilet adds pressurized flush performance to the Aqua Magic lineup. Translation: it flushes like it means business.
The Thetford Aqua-Magic Style Plus is the "luxury hybrid" of the lineup, featuring a ceramic bowl and a plastic base.
Here are the most commonly replaced parts for the Style Plus:
Water Valve with Drive Arm (Part #34100)
Like the other models, the water valve is the most frequent casualty, especially from freeze damage or high-pressure fatigue.
-
The Difference: On the Style Plus, the valve includes a specific drive arm that connects to the cable system.
-
Symptom: Water leaking from the rear or a "phantom fill" where the bowl slowly fills up while you aren't looking.
Waste Ball Seal (Part #34120)
This is the standard rubber lip seal at the bottom of the bowl.
-
The Issue: Because the Style Plus has a very powerful "100% bowl coverage" flush, the seal can sometimes get displaced or catch debris more easily than the simpler models.
-
Maintenance Tip: If it's not holding water, try the "plunger trick": push the seal down firmly with a round tool to ensure it's fully seated in its groove before buying a replacement.
Flush Pedal Cable Kit (Part #34106)
This is the "Achilles' heel" of the Style Plus. Unlike the Residence or Style II, the pedal isn't directly connected to the waste ball; it uses a steel cable.
-
The Issue: The cable can stretch, fray, or snap over time, or the plastic tensioners can fail.
-
Symptom: The pedal feels "mushy," has no resistance, or you press the pedal and nothing happens inside the bowl.
Water Valve Return Spring (Part #34110)
This spring is responsible for snapping the valve shut after you let go of the pedal.
-
The Issue: It can lose its tension or corrode.
-
Symptom: The water keeps running even after you release the foot pedal, forcing you to manually lift the pedal with your toe to stop the flow.
Flush Nozzle Kit (Part #34127)
The Style Plus uses a specific nozzle to achieve its signature "swirl" flush.
-
The Issue: Hard water scale (calcium) can clog the tiny holes in the nozzle, leading to a weak flush or "dry spots" in the bowl.
-
Symptom: Water only flows out of one side of the nozzle, or the pressure is significantly lower than it used to be.
Pro Tip:
A Style Plus must use the correct high-pressure valve—standard Style II valves will underperform or fail.
Aqua-Magic VI

The Thetford Aqua Magic VI RV Toilet took everything good about the Style II and leveled it up—taller profile, smoother operation, and better flushing performance.
The Thetford Aqua-Magic VI is a lightweight, all-plastic model often found in newer RVs. While it shares some DNA with the Aqua-Magic V, it introduces a few specific components—notably a cable-driven system—that change its maintenance profile.
Here are the most commonly replaced parts for the Aqua-Magic VI:
Water Module Assembly (Part #31705)
This is the most common failure point. The water module on the VI is a compact plastic unit that can easily develop leaks if the RV is exposed to freezing temperatures or if the internal seals fail from sediment.
-
The Issue: Cracking or internal seal failure.
-
Symptom: Water leaking from the back of the toilet or the water not shutting off completely after the pedal is released.
Blade Seal (Part #31708)
This is the flat rubber seal that maintains the water barrier in the bowl.
-
The Issue: Like all gravity-flush toilets, this seal eventually dries out or gets "gunked up," preventing the bowl from holding water.
-
Maintenance Tip: Unlike older models, the VI seal is relatively easy to swap, but you should always use silicone-based lubricant to prevent the new seal from sticking to the plastic blade.
Foot Cable Kit (Part #31711)
The Aqua-Magic VI uses a specific steel cable to connect the foot pedal to the flush mechanism.
-
The Issue: The cable can stretch or snap over time, especially if the waste ball becomes stiff and requires more "muscle" to move.
-
Symptom: The pedal feels completely limp, or you press it and the water flows but the waste ball doesn't open.
Water Module Link (Part #36528)
This is a small but critical plastic linkage that connects the foot pedal movement to the water valve.
-
The Issue: This plastic piece is under constant tension. It can snap if the pedal is "snapped" back or stepped on too hard.
-
Symptom: The waste ball opens (indicating the cable is fine), but no water enters the bowl.
Closet Flange Seal (Part #33239)
Because the Aqua-Magic VI is a very light plastic toilet, it is more prone to shifting if the floor bolts aren't perfectly tight.
-
The Issue: Movement of the base compresses the foam flange seal unevenly.
-
Symptom: Sewer smells in the bathroom or liquid seeping out from under the plastic base on the floor.
Many VI parts look similar to Style II parts—but they’re often not identical. Diagrams save wallets.
Bravura

The Thetford Bravura RV Toilet is the heavyweight of Thetford’s lineup—full ceramic bowl, high profile, powerful gravity flush.
The Thetford Aqua-Magic Bravura is known for its sleek, "one-piece" appearance, but that aesthetic comes with a unique shroud and pedal design that makes maintenance slightly different from the more open-frame models like the Style II or Residence.
Here are the most commonly replaced parts for the Bravura:
Water Module Assembly (Part #31113)
The Bravura uses a specific "water module" rather than a standard valve.
-
The Issue: This is the most frequently replaced mechanical part. Like the others, it is highly sensitive to frost. If it cracks, it will leak constantly, even when the toilet isn't being flushed.
-
Symptom: Fresh water pooling on the floor behind the shroud or a "trickle" that won't stop entering the bowl.
Blade Seal (Part #31112 / Kit #31111)
The seal on the Bravura is part of a "Mechanism Repair Kit."
-
The Issue: Because the Bravura has a very deep bowl, the seal is under more hydrostatic pressure than in shallower models. It tends to accumulate calcium buildup more quickly.
-
Maintenance Tip: The Bravura is famous for being difficult to clean around the seal because of the shroud. If it stops holding water, try using a specialized seal lubricant before pulling the whole unit apart.
Foot Pedal Assembly (Part #33372 - White / #33386 - Parchment)
The pedal on the Bravura is a large, front-facing lever.
-
The Issue: The Bravura uses a internal spring and linkage system that can become disconnected or "jammed" by debris that falls behind the shroud.
-
Symptom: The pedal feels "loose" or won't spring back up to the top position.
Closet Flange Seal (Part #31115)
The Bravura is a heavy unit compared to the Aqua-Magic VI.
-
The Issue: If the RV floor has any flex, the Bravura's weight can cause the mounting bolts to "wallop" out the flange seal over time.
-
Symptom: Sewer odors that won't go away even after cleaning the black tank and lubricating the bowl seal.
Reality Check:
The Bravura’s valves and seals are larger and higher flow than Aqua Magic models. Using mismatched parts = leaks + weak flush + campground regret.
